We shall overcome

SMILING CARCASS'S TWO-PENNETH

Many, many years ago, folks who stood up for, spoke for the poor were or had been poor themselves.

Nye Bevan, Arthur Scargill and Dennis Skinner come to mind.

Not forgetting Michael Foot, Derek Robinson or Dave Nellist.

Their contention was such as Marx said; the many should not suffer poverty, while the few enjoy great wealth.

Now it seems, once again we have wealthy class telling us what’s best for us.

And once again, we have wealthy ‘entertainers’ fighting our cause.

They seem to want a socialism where THEY maintain their wealth; a socialism that is not socialism.

We do not need them, brothers and sisters.

We need each other, to stand together; thus will we overcome.
